Flying Adventure: Namibia Tour – Day 6 (FYGK – FYWE – FYGL):
Today we continue to the heart of Namibia. Our destination is the Omaruru Game Lodge, which is located near the town of Omaruru in the center of the country.
In our original route we planned a stop at the coastal town of Swakopmund for re-fueling. However, the weather conditions at the coast do not permit VFR flight in the morning, and the mist is forecasted to persist until midday. We therefore decide to route via Windhoek and take up some fuel there before proceeding to Omaruru.
Claiming to not being aware of local flight plan rules, would not be true anymore. He therefore calls the Briefing Office in Windhoek to file flight plans for the new legs. Aviation as an industry is very safe, because it’s safety system continuously learns and adapts rules and procedures. Critical for the working and performance of this system is, that aviators and all those involved in the industry are honest and do the right thing.
Omaruru Game Lodge
The Omaruru Game Lodge and adjacent private game reserve, belongs to Thomas Domenig Senior, who happens to come from the land of Gian and Giachen, just like him and his four passengers.
We enjoy a beautiful game drive through the reserve and then settle at the waterhole restaurant.

The waterhole restaurant at the lodge is definitely the highlight. The game coming to water and feed is a true spectacle. Not many better places for a cold beer.
