Flying Adventure: Namibia Tour – Day 12 (FYBG – FYKM – FVFA):

For our final destination of this tour we are leaving Namibia today and hop over to Zimbabwe. On our first leg we fly along the Caprivi strip to Katima Mulilo for Namibian customs and immigration. Well, that was the plan.

But there was no customs or immigration official around. After the initial phone call, they said they would come over and assist us. We give them some time, but nobody seemed to be bothered to actually come. After a couple more phone calls he got hold of the supervisor. The lady explained that her predicament was that she cannot get hold of her staff, as there was no cellphone reception. He explained that he understands the issue, but it would not provide a solution to our issue. Finally, we agreed that we can depart without a customs and immigration officer. So we fill in some forms, leave them with the security guard and proceed with our journey.

From Katima Mulilo we route along the mighty Zambezi river and then do a few scenic loops over the Victoria Falls.

After landing and Zimbabwe border formalities we proceed to the Elephants Hills Resort, just outside of Victoria Falls town.

The Victoria Falls

We spend Day 13 visiting the infamous Victoria Falls. He has been here a couple times, but the falls are always an impressive sighting, and the town of Victoria Falls is a great and relaxed place to hang around.

For his passengers it was however the first visit to the “Smoke that Thunders” as the falls are referred to in Zambia. It is therefore a perfect location to finish off this tour around Namibia. We have covered Namibia from the Fish River Canyon in the South, to the Epupa Falls in the North and the Victoria Falls in the eastern most corner, where Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe meet.
