Flying Adventure: Mozambique Zimbabwe – Day 10 (FVMH – FVCZ – FAPP – FAWB):
Today is the last day of our flying adventure. We start the day with a hearty breakfast whilst enjoying the magnificent views from Chilo Gorge over the Save river and Gonarezhou. It’s then time for departure.
For our first leg we fly back to Buffalo Range. It’s a beautiful morning with cool temperatures, which make for exceptionally stable and smooth flying conditions. As we arrive at Buffalo Range we meet two pilots from the Zimbabwean Airforce who are also on the airfield with their Huey helicopter. Two very nice gentlemen who ask if we could re-position to allow them to hover over to their fuel bay before they would depart back to Harare. Of course we assist them, and clear border and admin formalities whilst they are fuelling the Huey. After their departure its our turn to fill up before we take off for the second leg of the day.
We route in a southwesterly direction and cross over the Limpopo river into South Africa. With the increasing altitude of the terrain below us the ground is getting close as we proceed over the Soutpansberg mountains, passed the Makhado Airforce base and then start our descent to Polokwane International Airport.
After clearing the border at Polokwane we are taking off for our last leg of this tour. Along the Waterberg mountains back to Pretoria.
It has been an amazing flying adventure to explore new remote corners of Africa and their unique beauty and fascination.
This time, he is in a very privileged position. He doesn’t have to ponder about places for the next flying adventure. That next flying adventure is already planned. All he needs to do is getting time pass quickly till September.
