3 April 2018 – Jeffreys Bay to Port St Johns

Flying Adventure: Around South Africa – Day 5 (FAPX – FAWingP – FAPJ):

It’s a fairly overcast day. Not the best flying weather. But good enough to depart from Paradise Beach in Jeffreys Bay for the next leg up to Port St Johns on the Wild Coast.

From Jeffreys Bay we route along the coast to Port Elizabeth and Coega. We then set course overland past Kenton-on-Sea and Port Alfred to Wings Park. Wings Park is a lovely airfield in the Eastern Cape hills just north of East London. It is an ideal place for a pit stop and re-fueling.

After take off from Wings Park we route back to the coast. It is a very scenic stretch of rugged and wild coastline. No surprise then, that it is commonly referred to as the Wild Coast. On reaching the coast, we fly up north to Port St Johns with a touch and go at Wavecrest airstrip on route.

Port St Johns is our stop over for 2 nights. From here we will proceed further up along the Hibiscus and Dolphin Coast to Kosi Bay.

We stay over at Ntafufu Eco Lodge, which is one of the most magnificent places we have stayed over. The hospitality at Ntafufu is simply amazing.
